Best Boat Trailer Tires: Compare Fit Before Buying

Compare trailer-tire options by exact size, load range and installation needs. Build a complete replacement quote without guessing your trailer’s fitment.

The best trailer tire starts with the right specification

Read the trailer label and current tire sidewalls before shopping. Match the approved fitment and capacity requirements first, then compare products offered in that configuration. A familiar brand or a higher load-range letter does not establish that a tire fits your wheel and trailer.

These are specification-based comparisons, researched September 4, 2026. We have not field-tested these products or ranked their long-term durability. If you buy through a qualifying link, we may earn a commission. Verify the exact configuration and current terms before ordering.

Carlstar Radial Trail HD: detailed size choices

The manufacturer lists multiple sizes and load ranges, including more than one version of a size. This is useful when comparing a confirmed replacement specification. Match the exact SKU, not just “Radial Trail HD.”

Check the manufacturer’s specification table.

Goodyear Endurance: another trailer-specific option

Investigate Endurance when the current product range includes a fitment approved for your trailer. Ask the installer to confirm its exact size, load range and wheel requirements before comparing installed prices. We have not measured its durability against competing tires.

Check current Goodyear Endurance options.

Why the higher number is not automatically the right purchase

In the example, the sidewall size alone does not distinguish the two products. A proposed replacement also needs compatible wheel specifications, clearance and the trailer manufacturer’s requirements. Added tire capacity does not raise the trailer’s GVWR or axle rating. Ask the manufacturer or qualified installer to resolve a change from the original equipment.

Tire only or a mounted tire-and-wheel assembly?

For a tire-only purchase, price mounting, balancing if specified, valve service and disposal with the installer. For an assembly, confirm wheel diameter and width, bolt pattern, offset, center-bore requirements and load/pressure ratings. A wheel with the right number of holes is not enough information.

Record the spare’s fitment too. Compare equivalent packages: an unmounted tire price should not be compared directly with an installed assembly.

Before towing on the replacement tires

Use the specified cold pressure for the matched equipment. Goodyear’s tire-care guide advises checking trailer tires before trips and consulting the vehicle instructions when replacing tire size or type. Our boat trailer tire-pressure guide explains how to read the relevant labels.

A tire speed rating is a component rating under stated conditions, not a recommended towing speed. Tire choice also does not resolve damaged wheels, bearings or other trailer defects.

Questions before you decide

Can I upgrade from load range C to D? +

Do not decide from the letter alone. Confirm the replacement with the trailer manufacturer or qualified installer, including wheel pressure/load compatibility and clearance.

Which brand lasts longest? +

We have not run a comparative wear or failure test, so we do not claim a longest-lasting winner. Compare fitment, supplier support and your installed quote.

Can I multiply two tire ratings to get my trailer capacity? +

That does not establish the trailer’s approved capacity. Trailer, axle, wheel, tire and other applicable limits still matter.

Should I buy the cheapest tire-and-wheel package? +

First confirm all fitment and rating requirements and what installation includes. A low advertised price is not a saving if the assembly is incompatible.
